The Castle Hill Little League was the brainchild of the late Nick Aromandi, a feisty, lion-hearted man of great stature who was loved and respected by all. In 1955 Nick Aromandi presented his idea of forming a little league program in the Castle Hill area to six members of the community: Carmine Chiavelli, Henry Sherman, Buster Fues, Jerry Digiralamo, Harry Ferry and Richard Miller. From this meeting the Castle Hill Little League was born in 1956. Seven neighborhood associations and businesses became sponsors and helped finance the equipment and uniforms. Members worked day and night to convert a vacant lot into a ballfield at the Castle Hill Housing Projects.
